Apple Week

Apple Week:
If I live and grow in Jesus, I will bear much fruit.

We went to the grocery store and bought tons of apples. One of each kind, and plus more 3 bags of apples for applesauce, apple pie, applecake, apple brown betty, apple stamps, etc!!!

We did apple graphing and taste tests. We were surprised to learn that we liked something better than Red Delicious, which is what we normally buy!

Here's a look into our school week:

Fruit of the Spirit Song

MFW Daily Activity Plans:
I don't follow the days...I just do it in the order that best works for me. Plus we have coop on Tuesday, and usually only have time for our calendar time/circle time activities.
Day 1-Apple Info books and bible point
Day 2- Make applesauce and bible point
Day 3-Variety of apples, taste tests, apple prints, fractions...using worksheets Apple Senses and Apple taste testing)
Day 4- Johnny Appleseed Info
Day 5- Make an apple tree, add poem, review all weeks themes
and of course our Theme Books and activities.

We put up a bulletin board size apple tree on our front door. Each apple displays a different fruit of the Spirit. James had a hard time grasping how people can have fruit. But it was really great to see it click as we went throughout our week and I would point out different qualities...love, peace, etc as he displayed them.

We also spent time studying Johnny Appleseed. There are great books on this. James went out and planted an apple seed after we read about Johnny Appleseed. Hmm....we are not holding our breath to see a tree grow next spring!!!

Anything is better than red delicious!!! We were spoiled when we lived in New York and the apple orchards up there introduced us to a huge variety of apples, my favorite is Honey Crisp! Love them, nice pics of Bella and the lipstick!!
